We have many news items in this issue! We have an activity report from our president — we have been doing many things! We then have photos and a report from the very successful African conference. Our membership continues to grow! We also mention upcoming meetings in Taiwan, Argentina, Nepal, New Zealand, Chicago (U.S.), our congress in 2026, EGCOM20 and the meeting on engineering geology models.
This is a big week in Namibia in Africa because the 4th African Regional IAEG Conference is happening. Best wishes to the organizers! Please send photos of the event! The big news item this week was the M6.0 earthquake in Afghanistan that killed over 1400 people.

We have lots of announcements of upcoming conferences especially in Brazil and our conference on engineering geology models! There were lots of news items from around the world on engineering geology. We mention a rockfall on Santorini in Greece and the activities of the Mt. Spurr Volcano, U.S. and Mt. Etna in Italy. There were earthquakes in Chile and Myanmar and a "haboob" sandstorm in Arizona, U.S.!

There is lots of news in this week's IAEG Connector! There is a great announcement about the 3rd Argentine Congress in September. We have a great article by YEG Om Prasad Dhakal too. The YEG group from Pakistan participated in a big geological hazard symposium in May! Congratulations! In eastern Russia there was a very large M8.8 earthquake which was followed by the eruption of the Klyuchevskoy Volcano nearby. Lava has filled the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii, U.S., too. There were large sandstorms in Peru, and 90 million liters of meltwater has been produced under the Greenland ice sheet.
