Become an AGS Member
Thank you for your interest in joining the Australian Geomechanics Society.
Entitlements
As a member of the AGS you receive:
- Free or discounted access to technical presentations run by your local chapter.
- Discounts to AGS run courses, symposia, and conferences, including the quadrennial Australia New Zealand Conference on Geomechanics, Australian Conference on Engineering Geology, and the Australian Conference on Rock Mechanics.
- Four editions per year of our journal, Australian Geomechanics — financial members can elect to receive a hard-copy posted to them.
- Online access to all past editions of Australian Geomechanics, video recordings of technical presentations, and selected conference, symposia and seminar proceedings.
- Complimentary membership to one of our affiliated international technical societies:
- ISSMGE (International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering)
- ISRM (International Society for Rock Mechanics)
- IAEG (International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment)
Additional membership of affiliated international technical societies can be purchased for $44 per society.
Under-Graduate Student Membership
Under-Graduate Student Membership is available at no cost for all full-time under-graduate students and provides access to discounts for selected AGS run events.
However, this free membership category does not include membership to an international society and does not receive hard-copies of Australian Geomechanics Journal.
Corporate Membership
Corporate Membership of the Australian Geomechanics Society includes:
- AGS Membership for two Corporate Nominees who will receive all the benefits of AGS membership plus membership of all three International Societies:
- ISSMGE (International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering)
- ISRM (International Society for Rock Mechanics)
- IAEG (International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment)
- For select AGS run events, corporate members (logged into the AGS website, with their Corporate Member account), when purchasing 5 or more tickets, will receive a bulk-rate discount (equivalent to the standard member price) for all tickets purchased in that transaction and may elect to pay via credit card or direct deposit.
- One additional copy of Australian Geomechanics Journal for the Company library (published quarterly).
- Acknowledgement of their membership in every issue of Australian Geomechanics Journal.
- Acknowledgement of their membership on the Corporate Members page of this website.

Eligibility
There are no restrictions on joining the AGS. Although AGS is part of Engineers Australia, you do not need to be a member of Engineers Australia to be a member of AGS. Discounts apply to those with a membership of both Engineers Australia and AGS.
Fees
Membership fees for the 2024/25 membership period commenced via Engineers Australia’s website in mid-May 2024 and are set out below. The subscription period is through to 30 June annually. Fees are automatically reduced pro-rata monthly for members who join for part of the subscription period.

How to Join
Non-EA Members
Create an account on Engineers Australia, then continue the steps below.
Existing Engineers Australia Members
Login to your existing EA account.
Click Join a Technical Society from the Dashboard and select New Memberships.
Search for Australia Geomechanics Society from the list of technical societies and complete the application form.
Once you have become a member, EA will pass your details to the AGS and you will be provided access to the AGS website. This process is not automatic and may take time.
