The AGS WA Chapter in collaboration with Women In AGS (WIAGS) sub-committee is proud to provide selected female members with a high-impact, low-disruption Network Science tool, to understand and strengthen their core professional network.
Resource
The Leader Network Diagnostic (LND) – built on over 40 years of research into leadership and professional networks – is proposed to be utilised and offered to participants in this program. This initiative is based on the distinction between event-based networking and Network Awareness.
Purpose
The purpose of this program is to give selected AGS members the opportunity to gain meaningful insight into their current professional network and circle of influence. By participating in the LND, individuals can identify strengths and gaps within their social capital – i.e., where support, knowledge and opportunity are currently flowing well, and where it may be thin or overly concentrated.
Program
Upon selection, participants will have the opportunity to complete their LND online and will receive their individual LND report. Then, a debrief session will be held to help interpret the results and connect insights back to their own goals and context. This structured debrief session will be led by a certified trainer with senior-level management experience in the geotechnical consulting space (Patrick McManus). Participants will have the opportunity to choose their preferred session and only need to attend one session.
Participants will have the option of a follow-up LND online after six months to support reflection on what has changed and what realistic adjustments may be worth making next. Potential benefits (depending on the individual) may include clearer support pathways, stronger collaboration, and increased confidence in how to use existing relationships.
Participant’s names will not be made public, however, it would be favourable if participants were able to provide feedback to the AGS WA Chapter and were willing to provide comments on their experience for future years.
How to apply
All AGS members can nominate a female AGS member that they believe would benefit from the program. All women in AGS can express their interest to participate in this program.
To apply, members must complete two requirements.
- Submit a brief statement, no longer than 300 words, explaining why they would like to take part in this initiative and what they hope to gain from it.
- Provide a letter of support from your employer or manager, confirming that the organisation is aware of and endorses their participation in the program.
Both documents should be submitted as part of the application process for consideration. Selection criteria to be developed by seeking feedback from the committee members.
Throughout the program period, successful applicants must actively engage with their LinkedIn profiles, highlighting their involvement in this initiative. They should also acknowledge the support provided by the AGS WA Chapter and explain how it is helping them build and strengthen their professional networks.
