Numeric coding of rock, soil & defect descriptions

G.J. Cocks

Numeric coding of rock, soil and defect descriptions is a useful extension of the usual geological descriptive techniques. It provides a ‘standard’ description that is allayed with a fuller written description and is more easily manipulated. Computer input of this coded description allows data analysis and correlation, especially into semi-discrete data sets. It is a flexible system that can be adapted to suit a variety of situations.
