Model Tests on Grouted Driven Piles in Calcareous Soils

The capacity of driven piles in calcareous soils can be very low. In order to increase the shaft capacity of such piles, a grouting technique is used. A new apparatus for testing grouted driven piles has been developed at the University of Western Australia. In this paper, the apparatus is described along with the grouting technique. The results of tests performed on calcareous soils with different degrees of cementation are also presented.
