Significant recent advances in insitu testing of very soft soils and other gooey stuff

Allan McConnell

This presentation is a “warts and all” discussion and explanation of some very significant recent changes in insitu testing of soft soils and tailings, focusing on CPT, DMT, and Vane Shear testing.

Some of these changes are paradigm-shifting; challenging, over-riding, and over-hauling ideas that seemed cemented in geotechnical knowledge, until they recently weren’t. Some are in complete contrariness to Standards followed by the geotechnical profession.

This stuff is worth hearing – come along and enjoy the presentation. Allan will do his utmost to make the discussion interesting and enjoyable.
