Membrane Lined Water Storages
Mr Matthew Duthy
Geomembrane lined earth bank storages are a cost efficient and technically effective means of storing water in regional and remote areas, such as for country potable water supply, viticulture irrigation and for process water and potable water at mine sites. For potable water storages, a floating geomembrane cover is usually also provided. The presentation will give a general overview of the various components of a geomembrane lined earth bank storage, including earthworks, liner, cover, leakage collection and drainage, and inlet, outlet and overflow works. The design and construction of these works will be outlined, making reference to the presenter’s experience on various geomembrane lined water storage projects.
