Jack Morgan Young Geotechnical Practitioners Award
Vinamra Gupta, Marvin Bedary, Yu Cherry Zhong and Manuel Joao Niza das Neves
The inaugural Jack Morgan Young Geotechnical Practitioners Award was presented in 2009. The award is presented biennially to an outstanding Victorian geotechnical practitioner under the age of 35.
A call for abstracts was placed to our members in April and after a large number of applications at exceptionally high standard the committee have managed to short list four applicants to each present on their chosen topic to our members with Jack Morgan in attendance alongside members from our committee to select a winning presentation.
Shortlisted applicants will be judged on their contribution to geotechnics and understanding of geotechnical issues with our presenters vying for the following:
The winner will receive:
- a trophy;
- a cash prize of $1,000
Those who were not selected as finalists have been given the opportunity to prepare a poster of their submission to put on display on the night of the award. The attendees at the event will then review the posters before and after the event.
A panel of judges will then select a winning poster and the applicant will receive a $200 voucher.
Engineers Australia members participating in AGS technical sessions can record attendance on their personal CPD logs. Members should refer to Engineers Australia CPD policy for details on CPD types, requirements and auditing guidelines.
