2019 Queensland AGS Symposium

Risk & Resilience in Geotechnical Engineering

Dr Tim Mote, Deryk Forster, Dr Bindumadhava Aery, Ian Shipway, David Folan, William Eom, Greg Anderson, Amir Shahkolahi, Mehdi Davari, Stephen Buttling and Jun Sugawara

AGS QLD are pleased to present their annual full day Symposium Event for 2019 – This year’s event is aimed at providing delegates with details of current design methods and recent projects with emphasis on how geotechnical risk and resilience were addressed.

About the Symposium

Both risk and resilience in the geotechnical engineering are closely associated. Geotechnical engineers deal with risk on a day to day basis and whilst it cannot be avoided there are different ways to approach both the assessment and management of risk. Resilience on the other hand, is the ability to anticipate, prepare for, withstand, adapt to and rapidly recover from changing conditions. This may be in response such things as climate change, natural disasters or changing conditions on site.

The presenters at the 2019 AGS QLD Symposium – including Clients, Regulators, Consultants, Suppliers and Contractors – will share their knowledge and experience in assessing and managing risks and incorporating resilience into their projects, methods and design.
